Results of our first planting

Back in the colder weather, a group from Friends of Garston Park planted some crocuses in two parts of the park. Member Mark Helsby took these pictures earlier this year when the crocuses were in bloom. We hope soon to also plant some wildflowers and to organise planters with even more flowers at the entrance to the park.

Litter Pick in the Park

There's a litter pick in the park on May 15th ( a Saturday). Long Lane Church is kindly providing breakfast at 9 am. It's part of a morning of litter picking involving two other local churches - the Bridge Chapel and All Souls. The event ends around 1pm at Bridge Chapel with a lunch. The organisers say everyone is welcome to help and in fact there were between 70 and 80 people last year. Litter picks, gloves and rubbish bags are provided by the Council.

If you can't make it but want to go on a mailing list to hear about future meetings, please either post your details in the comments section or e mail paula.keaveney@liverpool.gov.uk

Garston Park Bird Watch

How many species of bird are there in Garston Park?

The Friends want to get a list together detailing all the different types of birds spotted.

And we need your help.

If you are in the park and you spot a type of bird, please let us know.

You can drop a line to the Chairman Alan Helsby at 80 Long Lane, Garston, L19
or post in the comments section here.

We hope eventually to display lists for people in the park.
